What is Women's Health Physiotherapy?

Women's health physiotherapy is evidence-based care for pelvic floor, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause-related conditions — helping restore strength, comfort, and confidence at every life stage.

What the Research Says

Pelvic floor dysfunction — incontinence, prolapse & pelvic pain — affects up to 55% of women, with pregnancy and childbirth as the main risk factors.

Antenatal pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) is a first-line approach to help prevent postpartum urinary incontinence.

Supervised, multimodal pelvic floor physiotherapy is effective for treating persistent urinary incontinence after childbirth.

Without treatment, up to three-quarters of women may still have symptoms 12–18 months postpartum — early physiotherapy input matters.

Bottom line: pelvic floor and women's health issues are common, but they are not something to just live with — physiotherapy is a proven first-line treatment.

How We Use It & Who It's For

Pregnancy & postpartum – pelvic girdle pain, diastasis recti, birth recovery

Pelvic floor dysfunction – urinary incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain

Menopause-related changes – pelvic floor and bladder symptoms

Core & pelvic floor rehab – safe return to exercise and daily activity

Typical plan: pelvic floor assessment, individualised exercise programme, education, and progress review as symptoms improve.

Is It Safe?

Yes, when guided by a trained women's health physiotherapist. Assessment and treatment are private, gentle, and adapted to your stage — pregnancy, postpartum, or menopause — and your comfort always comes first.
